Overview:

Entities now have the opportunity to vie for a portion of a £5 million funding pool (inclusive of VAT) dedicated to the advancement of groundbreaking clean energy solutions. This initiative hinges on the strategic mobilisation of local partnerships within designated nations eligible for official development assistance (ODA).



Eligibility Prerequisites:

To be deemed suitable for this funding competition, projects must adhere to the following conditions:

  • Commencement Date: 1 July 2025
  • Completion Deadline: 31 March 2027
  • Duration: A span ranging between 12 and 21 months
  • Total Project Expenditure: Falling within the bracket of £500,000 to £1.5 million

To assume leadership of a project, applicants must:

  • Operate as an entity of any scale
  • Work independently or collaborate through subcontracting expertise from businesses, research institutions, technology innovation hubs, or non-profit organisations
  • Conduct an uninterrupted three-month demonstration or field trial within the target nation, ensuring direct engagement with users under authentic operational conditions

Additional Context:

This funding call is tailored to accelerate the emergence of trailblazing solutions that enhance clean energy accessibility across sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, the Indo-Pacific, and regions in South and Central America.

Participating projects must make tangible contributions to:

  • A Holistic and Equitable Energy Transition: Enabling inclusive access to sustainable power sources
  • Expanding the Reach of Clean Energy: Ensuring broad societal benefits and fostering widespread adoption
  • Advancement of Global Sustainability Objectives: Aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 and 13
  • Promoting a Just Transition: Actively addressing gender parity, disability considerations, and fostering social inclusivity (GEDSI)

By fostering collaborative efforts and supporting real-world application of clean energy technologies, this initiative seeks to drive impactful transformation in regions where sustainable energy access remains a critical necessity.
