Overview: Innovate UK is offering UK registered businesses a chance to compete for a share of up to £1 million for feasibility studies. These studies aim to support the development and manufacturing of needle-free technologies for administering medicines.

Objectives: The competition's goal is to fund studies that explore needle-free methods for delivering medicines, focusing on novel formulation approaches and manufacturing technologies suitable for various therapeutics, including complex medicines and vaccines.

Eligibility and Project Requirements:

  • Projects should improve productivity, competitiveness, and growth for UK micro, small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved.
  • Proposals must contribute to economic recovery, support job creation, and enhance health security.
  • The total grant funding request for each project must be between £50,000 and £100,000.
  • Projects should aim to improve patient experience, reduce healthcare professional pressure, and have a positive environmental impact.

Project Focus:

  • Feasibility studies may include transdermal, mucosal delivery, validation of delivery methods, and other needle-free routes.
  • The emphasis is on human health applications.

Exclusions:

  • Projects focused on medicine discovery, diagnostics, animal health products, consumer health products, training, or validation facilities are not eligible.

Portfolio Approach:

  • A variety of projects across different technologies, markets, and technological maturities will be funded.
