Objective: This grant aims to support the development of battery systems that are smaller, lighter, and more efficient, contributing to the European Green Deal's goal of widespread electrification for mobile applications. The focus is on integrating advanced technologies to enhance battery performance, safety, and sustainability

Scope:

· Size and Weight Reduction: Achieve through advanced cell technologies, lightweight and multifunctional materials, and innovative packaging.

· Performance Enhancements: Increase net useful mass and volumetric energy density by 10%-30%.

· Safety Improvements: Implement safety-by-design measures, thermal propagation controls, and fire retardant properties.

· Thermal Management: Develop systems to support fast charging (10%-80% in 10 minutes) and high-power applications.

· Manufacturing Innovations: Improve processes for reduced size and weight of battery packs.

Expected Impact:

· Enhanced Battery Systems: Develop battery packs with higher performance, increased safety, and reduced size and weight.

· Support for Electrification: Contribute to the uptake of electrified mobility applications.

· Standardisation and Compliance: Solutions should meet relevant standards and contribute to new standards for thermal management and safety.

Additional Details:

· Projects should demonstrate and validate innovations at the application level.

· Expected to reach TRL 6-7 by the end of the project.

· Encourage international cooperation, especially with the USA.

· Must consider the Safe and Sustainable by Design framework and include strong exploitation and dissemination plans.
