Mark has been a Scaleup Director since January 2022.  

A technologist, specialising in Commercialisation and Productization of Innovation with a focus on SaaS based businesses.

Leaving his native North-East in the Mid 80’s to move to Frankfurt then Munich, Mark worked as a programmer at the European and German National Space programs for 10 years on numerous satellite projects as well as Space Shuttle Missions and the International Space Station Columbus. He received a NASA achievement award for his work on the ROSAT X-Ray telescope mission.

From there he moved to Brussels and into telecommunications and transitioned from technical to the commercial side of the business and within 4 years was Exec VP Sales & Marketing for a major Global telecommunications operator, living and working in New York.

After three other stations in Senior Sales & Marketing roles in global telecommunications companies, Mark moved into consultancy with PA Consulting running a start up from PA Labs which was one of the first mobile advertising applications a joint venture with Saatchi and Saatchi where he operated as head of mobile technology.

Starting his own software house and filling both CEO and CTO roles, built an ecommerce and white label dating platform, which was rolled out in 15 languages and operates in 35 countries worldwide. Having grown annual revenues to €15m Mark exited the business, then returning to his native North-East to start a business refurbishing and selling off lease PC’s and laptops growing revenue to £2.5m in the third year.  

Further consultancy engagements took him to the US and London, before Mark again returned to the North-East to run the commercial operations of a SaaS Cloud based FP&A platform.  

An excellent communicator, he will identify what is important and what is not, quickly developing a strategy a clear vision of how to move things forward. Mark is a fluent German speaker.
