Overview: Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), is dedicating up to £2 million for UK-registered organisations to engage in international collaborative R&D projects in Quantum technology. This competition encourages the development of innovative quantum products, applications, and services with commercial potential.
Funding Aim: To foster international collaborations that result in innovative quantum technologies with high market potential, aiming for commercialisation.
Project Themes:
· Quantum computing
· Quantum simulation and stack levels
· Quantum communications and cyber security (performance, integration, industrialisation)
· Quantum sensing and metrology
Eligibility:
· Open to UK-registered organisations.
· Collaborations must include at least one partner from the listed Eureka member countries. The members are: Austria, Belgium (Flanders), Belgium (Wallonia), Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye.
· Projects should focus on industrial research.
Funding Details:
· Grant funding up to £500,000 per project.
Requirements:
· Proposals must demonstrate a clear, innovative concept that can lead to new products, processes, or services.
· A strong business plan with potential market needs and a viable financial plan.
· Proposals should aim for a significant economic impact and return on investment post-completion.
· Intellectual property use and sharing must be clearly defined.
Application Process:
· Submit the Innovate UK application by the deadline.
· Project teams must also submit a Eureka project application form by 3:00 PM UK time on 9 May 2024.
Portfolio Approach: Aiming to fund a variety of projects across different technologies, markets, and research categories.
Exclusions:
· Projects focused on non-civilian technologies.
· Projects not aligning with Innovate UK’s eligibility criteria.
· Projects dependent on export performance or domestic input usage.
