Overview
The MAGICIAN project is dedicated to advancing modular automation by integrating robotics into manufacturing processes. Its goal is to identify and rectify production defects before final product aesthetics are completed. This initiative will develop two key robotic systems: one for defect detection (Sensing Robot - SR) and another for defect correction (Cleaning Robot - CR). These robotic solutions can function independently, with human oversight for certain tasks, or collaboratively, where the CR addresses defects identified by the SR.
Following a human-centric approach, the MAGICIAN project aims to assess the impact of automation on production workflows while mitigating key challenges. This research-driven initiative will enhance automation and robotics, ensuring improved productivity, quality, and working conditions while considering the social and ethical implications of these innovations.
Scope of the Open Call
This open call focuses on expanding the functionalities of the MAGICIAN project’s robotic solutions. By working closely with MAGICIAN partners, applicants will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of the SR and CR through technologies such as advanced defect detection algorithms, optimized rework techniques, and AI-driven performance enhancements in real-time production environments.
The MAGICIAN system integrates collaborative robotics, AI-powered defect identification and correction, and user-friendly design principles. Its core functionalities include:
