Objective: This grant aims to support the development of improved manufacturing technologies and processes for medicines production in the EU. The goal is to create more effective, cost-efficient, scalable, sustainable, and environmentally friendly pharmaceutical manufacturing. This action seeks to enhance the EU's capacity to respond to public health emergencies and prevent critical shortages of essential medicines

Scope:

· Development of novel manufacturing processes and technologies such as additive manufacturing, continuous manufacturing, flow chemistry, and biomanufacturing.

· Innovations in industrial manufacturing and facility designs, including modular manufacturing, smart manufacturing execution systems, automation, robotics, advanced analytics, and smart sensors.

· Focus on enhancing chemical and biological processes while reducing the production of polluting agents.

· Excludes innovations solely targeting quality control.

Expected Impact:

· Agile, simplified, and resilient manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), intermediates, finished products, and excipients.

· Enhanced capacity to respond to demand surges and prevent critical medicine shortages.

· Improved competitiveness and strategic autonomy of the EU's pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

· Increased sustainability and compliance with environmental and social requirements.
